How to Apply

RITHIM launches on January 1, 2022.

Before January 1, 2022

Applications must be submitted through your home institution's research ethics review process and, for privacy reviews, through the Health Information Privacy Committee, until RITHIM's launch.

After January 1, 2022

Applications for ethics and privacy review will use the current University of Manitoba Research Ethics Boards' and the Health Information Privacy Committee's policies and forms.

These submissions will be reviewed by two new committees: the Committee for Health Impact, Privacy and Ethics Review (CHIPER), and the Provincial Health Research Privacy Committee (PHRPC).

Impact reviews will not be changed from the current system.

If you have any questions about the current processes of institutional impact reviews in Manitoba, please contact rithim@researchmb.ca

Submit all PHRPC and CHIPER applications and supporting material in .zip format to: rithim@researchmb.ca

Please do not combine the PHRPC and CHIPER applications into one email and file.

After the online submission portal (PRAS) launches (expected: Spring 2022):

All Manitoban human health research ethics, privacy, and impact review applications will be submitted, processed, reviewed, and communicated through the online system.

Below, find links to the review submission forms and resources that applicants will use after January 1, 2022.

Ethics Review

If your research protocol requires Ethics Review, you must submit an ethics review form linked below.

Please note, that Ethics Review Submission requires MORE than just the application form alone. Please visit the University of Manitoba Research Ethics Page for more information.
